WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Baseball dropped their 2nd MIAA road series of the season, losing both of Sunday's doubleheader against Central Missouri.
The Jets were shut out in game 1 and couldn't get the offense going. UCM's pitching held the Jets to just 2 hits and no runs. The Mules scored in every inning after being shut down in the 1st.
The offense rebounded in game 2 and put up 9 hits and 6 runs in 7 innings. Jenner Steele came within a home run of the cycle, finishing game 2 with 3 hits and 2 RBI's to lead the way on offense. Eli Wohl reached base all 4 times to the plate, earning 3 hits and a HBP.
Steele tripled in the 1st inning to score Jake Angelico, and would score on Jason Schneider's sacrifice fly soon after. The Mules scored 10 unanswered runs between the 2nd and 4th innings to distance themselves from Newman.
Newman scored 4 in the top of the 6th to get back into the game. Wohl, Angelico, and Steele all had RBI's.
UCM had another big inning, scoring 5 more in the bottom half of the 6th and would add a sacrifice fly to win game two 16-6.
The Jets will try and avoid the sweep tomorrow and earn their first victory over UCM in program history
