ADA, Okla. - Baseball dropped their 2nd of 2 midweek's game on Wednesday afternoon against East Central, 8-5.
Hayden Vandepol had a season high 3 hits in the loss.
Eli Wohl had 2 hits and 1 of the Jets 4 RBI's on the day.
Jenner Steele gave the Jets a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning with an RBI double to left field, bringing in
Zack Stewart. The Tigers would get that run back, scoring their first run on an error.
Trevor Pacheco scored Jace Schneider the very next inning with a single to center and the Jets wouldn't get their next run till the 6th.
East Central would score 3 in the 3rd inning and 1 more in the 5th to take a 5-2 lead. Vandepol would score on a passed ball to cut the deficit to 2 runs but the Tigers would score 2 runs to make it 7-3 after the 6th inning.
Jace Schneider scored again in the 7th and Vandepol would score for the 2nd time in the game in the 8th inning off a
Jake Angelico sacrifice fly to make it a 5-7 game. It would be the last run the Jets would score and the Tigers would add another in the 8th and eventually roll away with an 8-5 victory.
Garrett Calderon moves to 1-1 on the season. The sophomore gave up 3 earned runs in 4 innings pitched.
Newman moves to 6-9 on the season and will look to snap a 3 game losing streak when they get back into conference play this Saturday through Monday, taking on Washburn in a 3 game series. 1st pitch is set for 2 PM on Saturday.
