ADA, OK- The Jets traveled to East Central to take on the Tigers for their second matchup of the season. The Jets dropped the double header versus the Tigers in Wichita.
Game 1:
The Jets went scoreless in the first inning, while East Central was able to tack on 1 run in the bottom half of the inning. The 2nd inning was the same story for the Jets as they couldn't get a run on the board, and left 1 on base. East Central was able to add another run in the bottom of the 2nd inning to take the early lead 2-0.
The third inning was big for the Jets. Summer Young started off the inning with a walk. Gianna Navarro came up next with a single to right field. With runners on 1st and 2nd base, Laurie Cooke was able to reach first by an error on the defense. This error advanced Young across the plate to put the Jets on the board and move Navarro to third. Madi Canez came up with a big sacrifice fly that scored Navarro. Another error by the Tigers allowed Tori Waggoner to reach base and put Cooke across the plate. The Jets took the lead 3-2 heading into the bottom of the third inning. In the bottom of the inning the Jets held the Tigers scoreless and maintained their 1 run lead.
The Tigers were able to tie the game in the 5th inning. Neither the Jets or Tigers could tack on another run, forcing extra innings.
In the top of the 8th inning, Waggoner got on base with a single to the short stop. Anissa Ramos laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance Waggoner to second base. Gianna De Luca-Paape hit a hard ground ball to 3rd. The 3rd baseman bobbled the ball and recorded an error which allowed De Luca-Paape to beat the throw. The Jets had runners on 1st and 3rd with two outs with Lauren Kwak up at bat, but was unable to advance the runners. The Jets headed into the bottom of the 8th inning still tied at 3-3.
The Jets defense couldn't hold the Tigers in the bottom of the inning. The Tigers took the game 4-3 with an unearned run in the bottom of the 8th inning.
Game 2:
The Jets couldn't get their offense rolling in game 2. The Jets were held scoreless through 7 innings. The Jets defense held East Central scoreless through 4 innings, but the Tigers were able to add 1 run in the 5th inning and 4 runs in the 6th inning to take the win 5-0.
Cooke recorded 2 hits with 4 at bats.
