Jets move to 4-0 on the week with a sweep at Rockhurst

Kansas City, Missouri- The Jets traveled to Missouri to take on another GLVC opponent, Rockhurst. 

Men's Tennis: 

Luca Penteado and Gustavo Gil brought in the first win for the Jets in the #2 doubles spot, winning 6-2. Isfan Makhmudov and Pedja Kolaric dropped their doubles match 2-6. The doubles point came down to the #1 pair, Ali Mounir and Jarrod Nowak, who couldn't quite finish it off. This allowed Rockhurst to take the doubles point. 

Kurt Suarez Bruckner played a tough opponent in the #1 singles spot. Bruckner dropped his first set 1-6. He took his opponent to a tie break in his second set, but couldn't complete the comeback and fell 5-7. 

Kolaric brought in the first singles point for the Jets. Kolaric battled to a tiebreak in his first set, which he came out on top. In the second set, it was all Kolaric winning the set 6-0. This made the match 2-1 in favor of Rockhurst. 

Ali Mounir battled in his match to try and tie the team score, but lost in 2 sets. 

With the last three singles going, the Jets had to win all three to take the match. 

Gustavo Gil took the win 6-4 and 7-5, a few points difference but he fought to take the win, inching the Jets closer to take the match. 

Isfan Makhmudov took both his sets 6-4. The Jets tied it up with the #6 spot left to finish with one point up for grabs. 

Penteado lost first set in the tie break, 7-6. In the second set, Penteado started down but battled back to take the win. Penteado was forced to play a third set because the match was not clinched by either team. Penteado completed the comeback in the third set to clinch the match, 4-3. 

Women's Tennis:

The Jets started their day out strong by clinching the doubles points by wins from #2 and #3 doubles teams. Isabela Campos Bifano and Dana Issabayeva won 6-4 and Nicole Bono and Antonia Ramos won 6-4. Newman started the day 1-0 going into the singles matches. 

Issabayeva, #1 spot, lost her first set 3-6 but fought her way back in the second set to take the second set 6-4. Issabeyava handled the third set with ease winning 6-2 to give Newman another point. 

Ani Zeikidze lost in the #2 spot in singles, 1-6 and 4-6. 

Bifano had dominate win, with scores of 6-4 and 6-2. With Bifano's win, the Jets overall team score was 3-1. Newman had to pull out one more win the take the match. 

In the #4 spot, Bono had a hard fought match but lost both of her sets 3-6 and 4-6. The Jets were up 3-2 with 2 points up for grabs. 

Divya Murali in the #5 spot started down 0-4, but battled back with long points to win 7-5 and 6-4, this win clinched the match for the Jets. 

However, Amber Hands was still competing for the last team point of the day. Hands started up 4-1, and finished her first set with a tie break winning 11-9.  Hands lost her second set, forcing a third. Hands took her opponent into a super tie breaker which she clinched 11-9 to get the overall team win at 5-2. 

The Jets are back in action on March 7th in Tulsa, Oklahoma where they will take on Oral Roberts and Arkansas Fort Smith.
