MARYVILLE, MO- Tennis traveled to face two ranked NW Missouri teams. The Bearcats Men's team is ranked #12 with 3 ranked singles players and 2 ranked doubles teams. The Bearcats Women's team is ranked #14 with 2 ranked singles players.
Men's Tennis:
The Jets had a tough challenge against No.12 Men's Bearcats team. Luca Penteado and Gustavo Gil put up a huge fight against a solid team, but fell 6-7. Andrea Bramati and Isfan Makhmudov, in the #3 doubles spot, battled hard but fell short 4-6. The Bearcats stole the doubles point.Â
Kurt Suarez Bruckner faced an opponent ranked No.44 in singles. Bruckner almost stole the first set, but lost 7-6. In the second set, his opponent pulled away, winning 6-1.Â
Pedja Kolaric in the #2 spot faced a ranked opponent as well, No.55. Kolaric came out with a huge win in the first set, 7-6. However, he dropped the second set 1-6. This forced a third set, but he was unable to overtake his opponent and lost 4-6.Â
Gil and Makhmudov both lost their matches. Makhmudov fought hard in his second set, but lost 5-7. Gil also had a heartbreaking second set, losing 6-7.Â
Both of Penteado's sets were decided by just a few points. Penteado fought hard, but dropped both sets 6-7.Â
The Jets dropped the match, 7-0.Â
Women's Tennis:Â
The Jets had to face a tough opponent, ranked No.14 as a team. The Jets doubles were unable to take a doubles match. The Bearcats took the early lead with the doubles point.Â
Dana Issabeyeva faced a ranked singles opponent, No.48. Issabeyeva lost in two sets 1-6 and 2-6.Â
Isabela Campos Bifano stole the first set, 7-5. However through a tough battle, Bifano dropped the next two 6-3 and 6-2.Â
Amber Hands, in the #6 spot, lost a nail bitter in the first set 5-7. The second set was close as well, but couldn't pull out a win and lost 4-6.Â
The Jets took the loss, 7-0.Â
Both teams will face Emporia State in Emporia, KS on April 6th.
