Jets drop double header to defending National Champs, Navarro and Ramos with home runs in game 2

CLAREMORE, OK- The Jets traveled to Oklahoma to take on #8 Rogers State. The Hillcats were National Champions last season. 

Game 1:
Gianna Navarro lead the Jets off with a single.  Laurie Cooke came up to the plate with an RBI single to take the lead, 1-0. Later in the inning with bases loaded, Gianna De Luca-Paape walked allowing the Jets to take a 2-0 lead. The Hillcats responded in the bottom half of the inning with 1 run, but the Jets held onto the lead, 2-1.

In the 3rd inning the Jets offense got going again. Cooke with another RBI to extend the lead , 3-1. Good base running by the Jets lead to Travia Smith scoring on a wild pitch to make the score 4-1, in favor of the Jets. The Hillcats finally got their bats going in the bottom of the inning were able to put 6 on the board to take the lead, 7-4.

The Hillcats struck next in the 4th to add 2 more runs that extended their lead to 5. 

In the 5th inning, the Hillcats walked in another run, allowing the Jets to cut the lead to 4. 

However, the Hillcats held the Jets scoreless through the rest of the game and Rogers State was able to add 6 more runs in the 6th inning to end the game. The Jets fell 15-5. 

Cooke went 2-2 with 2 RBIs.

Anissa Ramos went 2-3

 Navarro went 2-4. 

Game 2: 
Game 2 was a home run contest for both teams, with 6 home runs total. 

Rogers State started the game with a 3 run home run in the bottom of the first to take the lead 3-0. 

Anissa Ramos answered the call in the second inning with a bomb over the center field fence to cut the deficit to two. 

The Hillcats kept up the hot hitting and were able to hit 3 home runs in the 2nd inning to take the lead, 7-1. 

Newman was able to answer back with an RBI from Waggoner to score one run. However, this was the only run the Jets could put across in the inning. 

Rogers State put up one more run in the 4th inning to extend their lead to 8-2. 

In the 7th inning, Gianna Navarro joined the home run frenzy with one of her own over the right field fence. This cut the lead to 8-3, but the Jets were unable to cut the deficit any further and lost game 2, 8-3.

Ramos hit her first home run of the season and Navarro with her 2nd of the season. 

Laurie Cooke went 2-3 from the plate, 4-5 on the day.
