EMPORIA,KS- The Jets traveled to Emporia State to take on the Hornets in an MIAA doubleheader.
Game 1:
The Jets held the Hornets to one run through 3 innings, but couldn't put any of their own runs on the board.
The Jets recorded 4 defensive errors, which allowed the Hornets to come alive in the 4th inning and score 4 to take the lead 5-1.
The Jets were unable to get their offense going, with only 2 hits in the game. The Hornets added 3 more runs in the 5th and 6th innings to take the win 8-0.
Game 2:
The Jets had some errors in the first inning that allowed the Hornets to take a 3-0 lead.
Finally in the second inning the Jets put one on the board. An RBI from Alex Schreiner scored Anissa Ramos, cutting the Hornets lead to 3-1. In the bottom of the inning, the Hornets added 2. The Jets were down 5-1 with 4 innings left to play.
The Jets were next to add a run, but not until the 5th inning. An RBI from Torri Waggoner allowed Schreiner to score, after singling earlier in the inning. Newman held the Hornets scoreless for the remainder of the game, but couldn't get anymore runs on the board.
The Jets lost 5-2.
ON DECK: The Jets will play Fort Hays State on Friday April 21st at 2 and 4 PM and on Saturday, April 29th the Jets will play Nebraska Kearney at 1 and 3 PM.
