STILLWATER, OK- The Jets headed to Oklahoma to take on No.20 Ouachita Baptist in the first round of the MIAA/GAC postseason tournament. No. 20 Ouachita Baptist has 1 ranked doubles team and 2 ranked singles players in the ITA's latest rankings.
Pedja Kolaric and
Ali Mounir took on the #1 doubles spot against a No.5 ranked opponent, but lost 6-1.
Luca Penteado and
Gustavo Gil played in the #2 spot and battled it out with their opponent to take the only Jets doubles win, 6-4. Isfan Mankhmudov and Kurt Suarez Bruckner pushed their match into a tiebreak, but lost a heartbreaker, 7-6: 7-3.
Bruckner played in in the #1 spot for the Jets. He took on a No.14 ranked opponent. Bruckner put up a fight, but fell in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-3.
Pedja Kolaric played in the #2 spot, but came up short losing in straight sets.
Jarrod Nowak played in the #6 spot and was the 3rd match to finish. Nowak was unable to overtake his opponent which allowed Ouachita Baptist to clinch the match.
With Ouachita Baptist clinching after only 3 singles matches, the rest of the Jets were unable to finish their matches. However, the unfinished matches were all nail biters.
Gustavo Gil in the #3 spot lost his first set, but dominated in his 2nd set, which would have forced a tiebreak.
Isfan Makhmudov lost his first set in the #4 spot, but was tied 4-4 in the second set.
In the #5 spot,
Luca Penteado dropped his first set, but was battling in the 2nd set with a lead of 6-5.
The Jets fell short 4-0. The Jets end their season with a 10-10 overall record and 2-3 in conference play, with 3 athletes earning All-MIAA honors.
