Jets down the Lopers in game 2, lose heartbreaker in game 1

WICHITA- The Jets ended their weekend hosting the Lopers for a doubleheader.

Game 1:
The Lopers were quick to score, putting 1 run up in the 1st inning. However, the Jets were able to score 1 in the bottom of the inning  to tie it up.

UNK was next to get on the board with a run in the top of the 3rd inning and 2 more in the 6th inning to take the lead 4-1 heading into the bottom of the 7th inning.

Gianna Navarro started the offense in the bottom of the 7th inning with a single to center. Waggoner came up next and was able to move Navarro to second with a single of her own. Navarro and Waggoner moved into scoring position due to a wild pitch from the Lopers. Anissa Ramos came up with a big single to right field that scored both Navarro and Waggoner to make the deficit only 1. However, that was all the Jets offense could put together in the inning.

Newman lost a heartbreaker, 4-3.

Navarro went 2-4 from the plate.

Ramos went 2-3 from the plate with 2 RBIs.

Game 2:
The Jets rallied back in game 2. In the bottom of the second inning the Jets offense got hot. Madi Canez singled to center with 2 outs. Ramos was up next and hit a huge double to left that scored Canez. Cooke wanted part of the action, and singled to left field to score another run. The Jets led 2-0 after the inning.

The Lopers were finally able to add some runs in the 4th inning that tied the game at 2. However, the Jets were quick to answer in the bottom of the 4th inning. A single for Alexis Diaz started off the inning. Gianna Navarro nailed a double to center field which scored Diaz to retake the lead, 3-2.

The 5th inning was huge for the Jets. Cooke lead off with a single to left. Gianna De Luca-Paape and Taylor Penden reached on walks. With bases loaded, Diaz walked to score 1. Navarro came up with an RBI to score another run. The Lopers defense made an error that allowed the Jets to tack on another run. Ramos later singled for the Jets to add on their last run of the inning. The Jets scored 5 in the bottom of the 5th inning to take the lead 8-2.

The Lopers added 1 run in the 6th inning and 1 in the 7th inning, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit. The Jets took game 2, 8-4.
