Jets rescue draw against Rogers State

Game was played at Bishop Carroll after storms on Friday impaected field conditions

WICHITA - The Jets were held to their first draw of the season, taking on Rogers State on Sunday afternoon. It was announced that the game was going to be moved on Saturday after a storm front made the field conditions unsuitable.

Newman made some changes to the lineup today, seeing some players start or appear in a Jets jersey for the first time this season.

After a close opening 15 minutes, the Hillcats took the lead off a defensive breakdown. It was the fifth game of the season that the Jets had conceded first.

Newman wasn't down for long, only taking 10 minutes to get back in the game. Reina Cline scored her first goal of the season, coming off a crossing assist from forward Elle Johnson

Johnson kept the offensive pace flowing for Newman, coming close to scoring several times, including a beautiful chip shot that was narrowly saved by the RSU keeper.

The Hillcats also came close to scoring several more times in the first half, with two shots hitting off the crossbar to keep the game at 1-1.

Jordan Webster made some huge saves for the Jets to keep the game level. Four of her six saves came in the second half, including saving a 1v1 opportunity.

The tie moves the Jets to 1-4-1 on the season. The Women will be on the road for the final non-conference games of the season next week, first traveling to Northeastern State on Friday before making the return trip to Claremore to face Rogers for a second time on Sunday.
