WICHITA - Women's Basketball fell in another close conference game, and despite being down by double digits for most of the game still played with the fire and passion that has defined them this whole season.
The Jets had another close game this week, with a close game against Rogers State occurring on Wednesday.
The Jets took an early lead with a
Valeriya Lioukina three, but it would unfortunately be one of the only leads that the Jets would get this game as they would try and play catch-up the rest of the way.
Monica Redondo continued her good form since the winter break ended, as she would hit several big shots including a jumper with 10 seconds remaining in the 1st quarter to bring the RiverHawks lead down to five.
A 6-0 run in the second quarter would tie the game up for the first time, as the Jets had been down by almost 10 at one point but fought back. After this run, the Riverhawks had one of their own that would again give them a ten point advantage.
In the third quarter, the NSU lead continued to grow, but a late foul on a Redondo three gave the Jets a boost that they would use to their advantage in the fourth quarter.
The lead was cut to just five points, while the Jets didn't allow a single point until almost the halfway point of the final quarter.
A late RiverHawks run gave the visitors the win, as they would edge by with a 68-62 victory over Newman.
Redondo scored two three pointers and was perfect from the free throw line. Freshman
Delainey Wylie had 13 points coming off the bench.
The Jets will head on the road to take on Missouri Western and Northwest Missouri State next weekend.
