Jets grounded early against Griffons

Wylie finishes with 10 points

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Jets had a tough outting on the road at Missouri Western on Thursday evening, in a game where the Jets could do nothing to stop the Griffons offense in the first half.

The Jets were looking for their second win on the road this season, as they won their first conference game of 2024 on the road against Emporia State.

The Jets did not have a first quarter to remember, but started out the second quarter on a 7-0 run that cut into the lead of the Griffons. Amaya Perez had five points in the half, while Valeriya Lioukina had two blocks on the defensive side of the ball.

The Griffons shot well from the three point line in all four quarters, which was the deciding factor in how the rest of the game would go.

As Missouri Western continued to grow their lead, the Jets tried to find different ways to score, attacking the paint heavily. As many good looks as the Jets had, they just could not get enough shots to go their way.

Near the end of the third, the Jets hit three straight three pointers in what was one of the highlights of the game for Newman. All three of the makes came within just a minute of play.

Delainey Wylie was the Jets leading scorer with ten points, including two three point makes in the second half. Carli Carlson finished with six points and six rebounds.

The Jets will look to put this game behind them, as they take on another tough opponent on the road, taking on Northwest Missouri State on Saturday.
