WICHITA - Women's Basketball hosted their final game of the month on Saturday, hosting Central Oklahoma, in a game that was competitive throughout, but saw the Bronchos hit more crucial shots in the second half.
Despite a bit of a difficult start, the Jets tied the game, but lacked some firepower to take the lead.
Most of the offense in the game was controlled by
Carissa Beck, who was due for a big game. Back to back threes from Beck and
Amiya Josey chipped down the lead and while they came close, they would again be unable to take a firm hold of the game.
The Jets got to the line quite a bit in the second quarter, which helped keep them in the game. The Bronchos would nonetheless take a double digit advantage to the break.
Beck hit a three on the first play of the second half, which gave Central Oklahoma some worries. Beck and the Jets once again brought the score down to just a two possession game.
The Bronchos had the better shootings hands in the second half, which set the two teams apart from each other. Some costly turnovers near the end solidified a firm UCO advantage.
The third quarter was the best peroid for both teams, the only difference being that UCO continued their sharp shooting into the fourth.
Beck led the way with 14 points, 12 of which came from beyond the arc.
No Jet was able to get more than five rebounds, and while the rebounds were almost evenly split between the two, the Bronchos won the game at the free throw line, hitting 91% of their shots.
The Jets will be at home for the first two games of February, beginning with Missouri Southern next Thursday.
