Women’s Soccer ends their 2024 campaign against Central Oklahoma

The Jets dropped the match, 5-0

WICHITA- The Jets hosted their final game of the 2024 season against the Bronchos of Central Oklahoma. 

How it Happened:
- Central Oklahoma was the first team to score in the first half. A cross off a corner kick from the Bronchos found Becca Tweedy in front of the goal and she was able to put the ball in the back of the net to take the lead at 1-0. In the 4th minute, Allison Hernandez had a shot but missed high. Central Oklahoma had another shot in the 8th minute, but Carla Apodaca was able to make the easy save to keep the Bronchos at just one goal. The Jets were fouled in a dangerous area in the 14th minute which gave Natalia Gonzalez a look on goal but the Bronchos goalie made the save to keep the Jets off the board. In the 18th and 19th minute the Bronchos had a few close chances at the goal, but Apodaca made three saves in a row to keep the Bronchos from extending their lead. In the 22nd minute, the Bronchos extended their lead ager Emma Nicholas assisted Rebekah George to take the lead at 2-0. The Bronchos kept their aggressive offense through the first half keeping the Jets defense and Apodaca busy. The Bronchos out shot the Jets 19-2 in the half. Apodaca recorded 11 saves. Gonzalez recorded the sole shot on goal for the Jets. Newman went into halftime down 2-0. 
-In the second half the Bronchos connected with an early goal within the first minute of play. Madison Linavong was able to connect for Central Oklahoma to take their lead up to 3-0. In the 63rd minute Hernandez had a great look at the goal, but Avery Bass was able to make another save to keep the Jets scoreless with less than 30 minutes left to play. The Bronchos found the  back of the net in the 69th minute after Rebekah George scored her second goal of the night. This goal extended the Bronchos lead to 4-0. After this Bronchos goal, the Jets were able to put the ball on the frame, but the Bronchos were able to keep it out of the goal. In the 71st minute, Hernandez had a shot on goal in the low center of the goal but the ball was saved. In the 72nd minute the Jets were awarded a free kick inside the box but were unable to connect off the free kick opportunity. In the 86th minute, Central Oklahoma added their fifth goal after a free kick was earned by the Bronchos. This goal put the goal away. 
-The Bronchos took the match, 5-0.
