WICHITA - Men's Basketball had a dominant performance over Barclay College Tuesday morning, scoring their most points in a game since 2019. Led by
Jacob Joe and
Devin Walker, the Jets surpassed the century mark in career and season highs for both players.
The game was originally scheduled to be played shortly after Thanksgiving, but inclement weather forced the postponement of the game. The contest was the first ever meeting between the two teams.
Coming off a season sweep of Nebraska Kearney where the Jets shot over 50% from the field, the Jets continued to shoot well against the Bears.
While the Jets made most of their opening shots, Barclay did as well and tied the game twice early in the first half. This would be one of the few times that the teams would be deadlocked, as the Jet turned it up a notch and took a commanding lead.
A 19-0 run near the end of the half separated things a bit, with
Boston Stanton III and
Devin Walker making several three pointers to give the Jets their first double digit lead of the day.
The run gave Newman a 21 point lead, and at the end of the half was culminated with a
Jacob Joe three at the buzzer.
Joe made five straight three pointers without missing in the second half to give him a career high in points with 21.
A three pointer from
Zach Spitzer had the Jets reaching over 100 points, with a commanding lead of almost 50.
The Jets would end up winning in utter dominance, 108-63.
Freshman
Devin Walker also had a career day, netting 18 points.
Sam Somerhalder and
Thomas Zevgaras also had double digit days.
The Jets will return home for senior day on Saturday against Emporia State with tipoff at 3:30 PM.
