Springfield, Mo. - Newman faced two very competitive opponents this past weekend. The first match was closer than it appeared on the scoreboard with two very close doubles matches, and a singles match that slipped away in the third set. In the second match, Drury showed why they are undefeated this season with a very solid performance.

Isfan Makhmudov returned to action playing in the first doubles match with Ali Mounir. The match ended with a close 4-6 final result.

Nicolo Lippolis and Andrea Bramati fought their way to a tie break but ended up losing their match 6-7, giving the Prairie Stars the first point in the match.Â

Ali Mounir continued his good form in singles, winning his match in straight sets 6-2, 7-6.

Kurt Bruckner battled and added the second point for the Jets after winning his match 7-5, 1-6, 6-1.

Luca Penteado didn't go down easily, forcing a third set in his match. After losing 1-6 in the first set, Penteado won the second set in a close tie break. The deciding set ended with a 4-6 final score giving the point to the Prairie Stars.Â

In the Sunday match, Drury didn't give the Jets any chance to get in the match. The Panthers started the day winning all three doubles matches.Â

Ali Mounir lost his singles match in a heartbreaking third set super tie break. Despite not getting the win, Mounir continued to show his high competitive level.Â

Kurt Bruckner put up a fight as well, forcing his opponent to beat him 4-6, 4-6 and showing the good form he is on regardless of not being able to win the match.

Winning in straight sets 6-3, 7-5 Luca Penteado was the only Jet that was able to get a win on Sunday closing a very positive weekend for him.Â

The Jets will travel to Durant, Oklahoma to play two matches on March 9th and 10th. They will face Southeastern Oklahoma State on Saturday, and Southeastern Arkansas on Sunday.
