WICHITA - Women's Basketball struggled on the offensive side of the ball Saturday afternoon, taking on Pittsburg State in a conference rematch from earlier in the season.
In the their first meeting of the season, the Gorillas held Newman to one of the their lowest shooting days of the season.
With the Gorillas starting on a 12-0 run, Newman got their first three points on the board thanks to an and one scoring play from freshman star
Jaeden McMillin. The Jets struggled to find consistent offense in the rest of the quarter, as the Gorillas continued to push their advantage.
The Jets finally got consistent offense going in the middle of the second quarter, but the Gorillas were still shooting lights out.
Carissa Beck and McMillin lead the charge for Newman, but despite their best efforts not much was going their way.
The fourth quarter would be the best in the game for Newman, shooting about 40% from the field. The Gorillas seemed to have gotten lucky with some shots and shot over 40% total on the day. They also hit 11 three pointers in the contest.
Delainey Wylie had four blocks in the game, and along with with three against Missouri Southern on Thursday, looks to close in as the MIAA's leading blocker this season.
The Jets will have their last Thursday/Saturday road trip next weekend, as they travel to Fort Hays State and Nebraska-Kearney.
