SPRINGFIELD, Mo.- Newman traveled to Missouri for more non-conference play. The Jets are coming off a fifth set loss at the Hilltopper Classic. On day one of the Drury Invitational, the Jets faced Roosevelt and Rockhurst. The Jets took game one against Roosevelt, 3-0. Game two went to Rockhurst, 3-0.
Game One vs Roosevelt: How It Happened
-The Jets hopped into an early lead in the first set, going on an 8-2 run. The Jets defense showed out in the first set only allowing 4 kills out of the Lakers 26 total attacks. At the net, the Jets added 4 total team blocks. Newman's offense was also connecting, recording 9 kills. The Jets held the lead for the entirety of the first set. Newman took set one, 25-23
- Set two was also a dominant performance by the Jets. Newman got out to another 8-2 lead thanks to four kills in the Jets first six points of the set. The Lakers tried to climb out of the early deficit that the Jets took, but couldn't bridge the gap. The offense kept strong in the second set, recording 13 kills on just 32 attempts, with a total of .375 hitting percentage. The Jets took the early lead in the set and kept it the whole way. Set two went to Newman, 25-15.
- Set three was a familiar sight, with Newman hopping out to an early lead again. This time the Lakers battled back. The Jets were up 17-12 until the Lakers came storming back tying the game at 21-21. However, the Jets were able to fight them off with three kills by McKenna Rhodes in the last three points for the Jets team. Newman took set 3, 25-23.

Game Two vs Rockhurst: How It Happened
- Set one went to the Hawks after Newman was out hit, 40-36 (16-9 kills). The Jets offense struggled to connect on their hits, with a .167 hitting percentage. Tymitz, Meyer, and Rhodes all recorded 2 kills in the first set, but it wasn't enough to offset the power that the Hawks brought in set one. The Hawks took the set, 25-16.
- The Hawks got out to a 12-4 lead on the Jets in the second set, but the Jets chipped away at the lead making it a 13-8 game with kills from Rhodes and Meyer and an ace by Trigo. Though the Jets made a great effort to dig out of the deficit, they struggled to gain enough momentum to overtake the Hawks. Rockhurst took set two, 25-15.
- Rockhurst went on an early run to take the lead 15-4. The Jets could never quite get their side of the net connected. Newman dropped set three, 25-9.
