Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women’s Basketball bested by Jennies

WARRENSBURG, Mo. -Newman traveled to Missouri to take on Central Missouri in the first out of two away games scheduled for this week. The Jets were unable to match the Jennies' accuracy, leading to a UCM victory.

How it Happened:
-The Jets started the game taking the lead with a three from Paige Craft. The Jennies scored three consecutive baskets to regain the lead and open a five point difference. Saige Grampsas scored a long jumper to cut the deficit down to three. The Jennies offense didn't back down and responded by adding six consecutive points showcasing their accuracy. A long basket behind the arc from Dani Williams gave the Jets hope to continue battling for the game. UCM then scored ten more points before the end of the quarter to leave the score at 10-24. 

-Coming back from the break the Jennies added two more baskets before Paige Craft made her first layup of the night, recording her fifth point in the game. After a couple of made free throws from each team, the home team stretched the difference to twenty one points with 4:16 left in the half. After that, Newman attempted to reduce the difference with Delainey Wylie and Brooklyn Love scoring back to back three pointers. The game reached the half time mark with a 21-40 score in favor of the home team. 

-In the first minute of the second half both teams scored a layup, with Craft adding her second one of the game. Three minutes later Craft added her third and fourth layup of the night, putting her personal tally at 11. Valeriya Lioukina score her first couple of points off of a crafty layup with 5:58 left in the third quarter. Jaeden McMillin scored the last points for the Jets in the third quarter off of two free throws. The Jennies continued scoring, raising the difference to 30 points at the end of the quarter.

-Despite having a comfortable lead, the Jennies didn't loosen up in the last quarter. They scored the first four baskets before Grampsas scored a three for Newman to record her fifth point of the night. With a minute left to play, Hayley Hughes scored the last basket of the game for the Jets.

Player Notes:
-Craft led the Jets offense with 11 points.
-Grampsas added 5 points and 2 assists.
-McMillin pulled down 6 rebounds.
-Wylie added 3 blocks. 

The Jets will face Washburn on Saturday at 1:00 PM
