TOPEKA, Kan.- Women's basketball capped off their weekend facing Washburn. Against the Ichabods, the Jets fell 77-66.
How it Happened:
- The Jets jumped out to a 10-3 lead to start the game.
Valeriya Lioukina scored the first basket for the Jets, which was followed by a three-pointer by
Monica Redondo.
Layla Pierce then connected with the Jets second three of the day.
Delainey Wylie also added a three-pointer to take their lead to 13-8 with four minutes left in the quarter. The Ichabods were then able to cut the deficit to just two points, but Wylie then connected with her second three of the quarter to put the Jets up five. To end the quarter, the Ichabods chipped away at the Jets lead to make it a one point game, 18-17, at the end of the first ten minutes of play.
- The Ichabods started the second quarter with new energy on the defensive side of the ball. This forced the Jets into a few turnovers to start which allowed the Ichabods to take the lead at 21-18 at almost two minutes into the quarter. McMillin ended Washburn's run by connecting with two free throws to make it a one-point game. The Ichabod lead reached five points at the 7 minute mark, but
Charlize Williams then connected with her first basket of the game to cut it to three points. A few possessions later, Lioukina scored to tie it at 25 all.
Dani Williams then hit her second basket of the game to retake the lead at 27-25. The Ichabods were able to tie it up at 27 all, but Lioukina added two more points to retake the lead. Lioukina then scored the next four points for the Jets which gave them the 33-28. To end the half, the Ichabods cut the score to 34-31. Lioukina led the Jets with 12 points in the half.
- McMillin started off the third quarter for the Jets with a basket, but the Ichabods were quick to answer and tied the game at 26 all. A three-pointer by
Paige Craft gave the Jets the lead. A few possessions later, Redondo hit her second three-pointer of the game to take the lead to four points. At the 5:35 mark, the Ichabods took the lead at 45-44. After this lead change, the Ichabods took their lead to 57-47, their biggest lead of the game. The Ichabods did not allow the Jets to make a dent in the lead for the remainder of the quarter. Washburn held the game at 61-50 heading into the final quarter of play.
- A three-pointer by McMillin cut the Ichabods lead to eight to start the final quarter. The Ichabods offense continued to fight back and take advantage of the fouls that were sending them to the line. With 6:32 to play, a three-pointer by the Ichabods gave them their biggest lead of the game at 71-55. Minutes later, McMillin then connected with an and-one to cut it to 73-58. Free throws by McMillin around the three minute mark, cut the game to 13 points. An and-one opportunity was scored by Craft to cut the game to a ten-point deficit. The Jets continued to try to chip into the Ichabods lead, but ran out of time. Washburn took the match up, 77-66.

The Jets return home next week to start a four-game home stint. The Jets will first face Arkansas-Fort Smith on Thursday, followed by Northeastern State on Saturday.
