WICHITA- The Jets capped off their weekend with their second contest against the Riverhawks this season. This time out, the Jets fell short 74-72.
How it Happened:

Jaeden McMillin hit the first four points to start off the Jets offense.
Saige Grampsas then connected from behind the arc to tie it at seven all, three minutes into the contest. After a few possessions of back and forth scoring, the Riverhawks were able to make a gap in the score, with a 14-9 lead with under six to play. More points from McMillin cut NSU's lead to three. A basket by
Brooklyn Love cut the deficit to one point, at 14-13. McMillin gave the Jets their first lead of the game after hitting two free throws, her tenth point of the first quarter. A fast break layup, after a steal by Grampsas, led to a
Layla Pierce layup. This score gave the Jets their largest lead at 17-14. This basket forced the Riverhawks to take their first timeout of the half. After the timeout, Grampsas hit her second three of the contest to take the lead to six with under a minute to play. Heading into the quarter break, the Jets led 22-16.
- The Riverhawks were first to score in the second quarter with a three-pointer, but then Jets answered this with a 5-0 run to take their lead to 27-19. With 5:30 remaining, the Jets took their lead to 11 points after a
Monica Redondo basket and a Pierce three. Prior to Pierce's three-pointer,
Delainey Wylie stopped the NSU offense with two blocks on the same possession. Pierce connected from behind the arc again to take the 14 point lead with 3:30 left in the half. The Riverhawks answered with back-to-back three pointers to cut the Jets lead to just eight with two minutes remaining. The Jets were able to keep the lead heading into the halftime break at 37-29.
-The Riverhawks defense forced the Jets into four straight turnovers to start the half, allowing NSU to cut into the deficit. These turnovers sent NSU on a 6-0 run, bringing the Riverhawks within two. McMillin then stopped this run, earning two free throws and connecting with both. With under seven to play, the Riverhawks tied it at 39 all. The next possession, the Riverhawks took their first lead since the first quarter. The Riverhawks were then able to extend their lead to seven after holding the Jets to just one point in three minutes of play. However, a Jets rally brought them back within three points with under two minutes to play. To end the quarter, Wylie hit two free throws to make it a 54-53 Riverhawks lead.
- Lioukina went on a 4-0 run to take the lead from the Riverhawks and put the Jets up three to start the final ten minutes of play. The Riverhawks continued to battle, but the Jets were able to hold the lead until the 6:20 mark when NSU went up by two at 61-59. Free throws by Lioukina retook the Jets lead on the next possession. With under five minutes to play, the Riverhawks took back the lead at 63-62. A bucket by
Paige Craft tied the game at 64 all, but the Riverhawks were able to score on their next possession. After a stop by NSU, the Riverhawks came down and hit a big three-pointer which put them up five. However, Pierce hit a three for the Jets to keep it a one score game at 69-67. With 30 seconds left, the Riverhawks hit two free throws to make it a four point difference. Lioukina scored a layup with 17 seconds left to make it a 71-69 game in favor of the Riverhawks. The Jets battled until the final seconds, but fell short 74-72.

-McMillin led the Jets with 25 points and pulled down 16 rebounds for a double-double.
- Pierce added 14 points, going 4-10 from behind the arc for 40%.
- Lioukina scored 13 points.
The Jets stay home next weekend to face Central Oklahoma and Rogers State.
