WICHITA- The Jets hosted Central Oklahoma for a Thursday night matchup. This is the second time this season that the Jets faced the Bronchos. The Bronchos took the first match up in Edmond, 90-72. This time out, the Jets fell to Central Oklahoma, 108-75.
How it Happened:
- In the first four minutes of play, the Bronchos hit four of four threes to help them jump out to a 14-2 lead.
Jordan Glenn-Hawkins tried to stop this run after hitting his first points of the night, but the Bronchos put six more together to take the lead out to 20-4. Fikes hit the Jets third basket at the 14 minute mark, but the Bronchos hot shooting continued. By the halfway mark, the Bronchos shooting from behind the arc had brought them to a 20 point lead at 30-10. The Jets offense started to get going after this mark, but Newman could not find an answer for the Bronchos hot shooting. By the end of the first 20 minutes of play, the Bronchos had the lead 58-29. In the first half,
Boston Stanton III led the Jets with seven points and
Aaron Murphy added six points. As a team, the Bronchos shot 60% from the field and 71% from behind the arc. The Jets first half shooting was 25% form the field and just 18% from behind the arc.
- Out of the halftime break, the Jets were able to get their offense going with points by
Sam Somerhalder. Glenn-Hawkins, and
Thatcher McClure. However, the Bronchos continued their hot shooting from behind the arc into the second 20 minutes of play to keep the Jets deficit at 30 points. Heading into the first media break, the Jets were down 72-39.AFter the first media break, the Jets could still not find an answer on the defensive side of the ball. The Bronchos were relentless on the offensive end, continuously keeping the Jets in a deficit of 30 points throughout the second half of play. At the end of fort minutes of play, the Bronchos shot a team total of 62% from the field and 60% from the three, making 17 total three pointers. Central Oklahoma took the win, 108-75.
