Strong second half by Bronchos downs the Jets

Craft scores career high in loss to Central Oklahoma

EDMOND, Okla.- Women's Basketball finished off their two-game road trip against Central Oklahoma. The Bronchos secured the win against the Jets, 80-56. 

How it Happened: 
- The Bronchos took the early lead in the first quarter with a 5-0 run. Five unanswered points by Paige Craft tied the game at five all. Minutes later, a three-pointer by Monica Redondo gave the Jets their first lead of the game at 10-7. The Bronchos then went on a 12-0 run to make the score 19-10 in favor of the Bronchos. With a few seconds left in the quarter, Valeriya Lioukina hit her first basket of the day to make it 19-12 to end the first ten minutes of play. 
- Out of the quarter break, Lioukina scored three unanswered baskets that chipped away at the Bronchos lead to make it just a one-point game with seven minutes left in the second quarter. The Bronchos made their first points with just under seven minutes to go to extend their lead back out to three. Brooklyn Love tied the game up at 21 all with a three-pointer and her first points of the game. Craft retook the lead from the Bronchos on the next possession with a basket. On the next Jets possession, Delainey Wylie was awarded free throws and sank them both. These free throws gave the Jets their biggest lead at four with under four minutes in the half. The Bronchos then put on an 8-3 run which allowed them to take back the lead at 29-28. Back-to-back points by Wylie and Love put the Jets back on top at 32-29 with under two minutes left. The Bronchos were able to tie it up at 32-32 to end the half. 
- After the halftime break, the Bronchos started with a 6-0 run. This run was stopped with a Wylie three-pointer to keep the Jets within three points. For the next few minutes, the Bronchos and Jets traded off baskets. Jaeden McMillin scored her first point at the six-minute mark and Craft added her 13th point on the next possession to make it a 42-39 game, in favor of UCO. After the bucket by Craft, the Bronchos found themselves on another run to take the largest lead of the game at 52-40. Craft, with the hot hand, stopped the Bronchos run after connecting with a three-pointer and her 16th point of the game. Lioukina and Craft both added points before the end of the third quarter, bringing Newman within 11 at 57-46. 
- McMillin scored the first points of the fourth quarter, but the Bronchos' strong second half continued. After the McMillin basket, UCO extended their lead with a 5-0 run which forced the Jets to take timeout just a minute into the quarter.McMillin added two free throws after the timeout to try to keep the Jets offense rolling but the Bronchos continued to answer the call. Lioukina scored her 11th point of the day under the six-minute mark to make it 68-52. In the final minutes of play, the Jets couldn't make a big enough run to cut into the deficit made. The Jets were bested by the Bronchos, 80-56.The Bronchos shot over 50% from the field and behind the arc.
