Last Time Out

The Jets kicked off 2025 on a road trip to Oklahoma. The Jets first faced Rogers State where they dropped the contest at 76-66. The first half was closely contested, but the Hillcats were able to stretch their lead early in the second half. With six minutes to play, the Jets made a 13-1 run which closed the game to 71-59 with under four minutes. However, the Hillcats were able to fend off the Jets. Aaron Murphy led the Jets in scoring with 18 points going 8-12 from the field with six rebounds. Against the Bronchos, the Jets trailed by just three points after 20 minutes of play. Out of the halftime break, the Bronchos put together a 17-3 run to give the Bronchos the biggest lead of the game. The Jets never recovered from this large run. The Jets dropped the contest, 90-72. Thatcher McClure was the Jets leading scorer against UCO with 28 points, six three-pointers (6-8  3FG), and added ten rebounds for a double-double. 

Scouting the Jets 

- The Jets are averaging 80.2 points per game, ten more than their opponents this season. As a team, Newman is shooting 47.3% from the field and 36% from behind the arc. The scoring for the Jets is well spread, with four Jets averaging over nine points per game (Stanton III, Glenn-Hawkins, Somerhalder, and Murphy). Somerhalder leads the Jets in rebounding with 5.9 per game.

Pittsburg State is off to a 7-6 season with a 3-1 conference record. So far in conference, the Gorillas have beaten Arkansas-Fort Smith, Central Oklahoma, and Rogers State. The Gorillas will face Missouri Southern before traveling to face the Jets. Four Gorillas are averaging over ten points per game, with one just under ten points per game. In conference, the Lions have lost to Rogers State, beat Central Oklahoma, lost to Northeastern State, and beat Arkansas-Fort Smith. The Lions will face Pittsburg State on Tuesday before facing the Jets on Saturday. As a team, the Lions are averaging 81.9 points per game, shooting 48.4% from the field and 38.3% from behind the arc. Martin Macenis is leading the Lions in scoring with 14.1 per game. Three other Lions are averaging above ten points per game.
