The first event of the season for the Jets they travelled to Rockford, Illinois, to compete in the Warhawk open hosted by University of Wisconsin Whitewater. The Jets would have a good first day with a record of 3-1 and be in first 2nd place headed to day 2. The Jets would be matched up with #15 McKendree, whom the Jets had defeated twice in qualifying. In a close match, the Jets would lose 3-4 in the best of 7, which would force the Jets to win the second match of the day to get back to the championship match. Their next opponent would be Wright State, who sat at #20 in the preseason poll. The Jets got off to a good start and would win the match 4-1 to move on to a rematch with McKendree. 
The Jets would again go to a 7th game; this time, the Jets would prevail and win the Warhawk Championship. The Jets were led by Freshman Claire Jacobson and Sophomore Ashley Soto, who would both earn all-tournament team honors. 
The Jets would then compete in the Mid-States championship, which was held in Wichita, and is the Jets' only home event of the year. The Jets struggled most of the weekend but grinded through some challenging conditions to finish in 6th place after qualifying. The Jets would draw the 3 seed Ottawa Braves in the round of 8, the match went to a fifth and deciding game, and the Jets would win game 5 to win the match 3-2. The semi-final match would be against #24 Oklahoma Christian, again the match would go to a fifth and deciding game with Freshman Claire Jacobson striking out in the 10th frame to seal the match and win 3-2.  
The Jets would go to the championship match to face #8-ranked Sam Houston State. This match would go back and forth, the match again would go to the 5th and deciding game, Sam Houston would prevail, and the Jets would finish in 2nd place. "We are a young group for the most part and are fighting hard," said Coach Murphy. "Having two good results to start the season shows the resolve of our group." 
The Jets JV team had a good result as well, qualifying for the championship match against Wichita State. The Lady Jets would prevail and win the JV Title.  
The Jets head to Houston this weekend to compete in the Track Kat Klash hosted by Sam Houston State.
