WICHITA- The Jets hosted No. 10 Washburn for a Friday-night MIAA clash, but the Ichabods proved too strong, sweeping the match 3–0.
How it Happened:
The Jets kept pace with the Ichabods early in the first set, with kills from
Isabella Lamb and
Sky Miller helping to tie the set at 10. Newman stayed in reach with an ace from
Madalyn Hoot bringing the Jets within four, but the Ichabods grabbed some late momentum to take the first set, 25-15.
Newman once again started the second set strong, with
Hannah Tymitz and
Isabella Lamb providing early kills to keep the Jets within reach.
Avery Kelley and Lamb added points at the net to cut the margin, but Washburn maintained control and closed out the set 25–13.
Washburn carried its momentum into the third set, but Newman kept battling. The Jets got early kills from
Sky Miller and
Isabella Lamb and later used points from Tymitz to stay within reach. Another Miller kill trimmed the gap to single digits, but Washburn closed the frame 25–12 to finish the sweep.
