How it Happened:
The Jets started strong with kills by Hannah Tymitz and Nicole Soto, and a service ace by Tymitz. Newman took a 7-4 lead, which included a serving ace by Brooklyn Lane. Kills by Isabella Lamb, Sky Miller, and Tymitz, brought the Jets to 18. The Lions took the first set 25-18.
Tied 4-4, the Lions went on the take the next three points to secure a 7-4 lead. The Jets came back within a point, with the score at 8-7. Southern would hold the lead and take the set 25-19.
Taking the first three points of the third set, helped by Tymitz kill. Points would go back and forth as would the lead between the Lions and the Jets, with no more than three points always separating them. MSSU would go ahead 20-21, forcing a Newman timeout. A crucial block by Tymitz and Avery Kelley and a kill by Tymitz would put the Jets ahead 23-22, drawing a Lions timeout. Missouri Southern would take the third set 24-26.
