Jets cruise to victory in home opener

WICHITA- Men's Basketball hosted Barclay College for their home opener. The Jets would cruise past the Bears, taking the win 117-42.

How it Happened:
- The Jets opened the game on fire, jumping out to a 5-0 lead with five straight points from Jayden Schoen. The Bears finally got on the board at the 17:30 mark, cutting the Jets lead to 5-2. The teams traded baskets for a stretch before Newman broke things open with a 10–0 run fueled by two Thatcher McClure three-pointers. With under 12 minutes left in the half, the Jets led 27–13. The Bears briefly halted the surge, but Newman's offense kept rolling. From the 9:00 mark to the 2:30 mark, the Jets held the Bears scoreless while ripping off a 23-0 run. The Bears ended the drought with a basket with just over two minutes to play, making it 50-20, Jets. Newman closed out the half by allowing only three more points and stretching the lead to 56-20. In total, 11 different Jets scored in the first half, with Schoen leading the way with nine points.

This surge was led by Deacon Courtney, with two baskets for his 12th point of the night. The Bears would end their drought, connecting with their 36th point of the night to send the contest into a media break. After the media break, the Jets continued to pile on the points on the offensive end. The Jets would stretch a 18-0 run with scores from Kobe Freeman, Terrell Wright, and Cyrus Shaw. A three-pointer by the Bears would cut this fun by the Jets, but not for long. On the next possession, Will Farrington connected from behind the arc to score the Jets 100th point.
