Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Jets defeat Thunder, 85-55

WICHITA- Men's Basketball hosted Manhattan Christian for a Tuesday morning match up and to host Education Day. The Jets defeated the Thunder, 85-55.

How it Happened:
- The Jets and Thunder opened the half trading baskets, but a 4-0 run sparked by two Thatcher McClure buckets gave the Jets a 12-8 lead with just under 14 minutes remaining. Later, a 10–0 surge pushed Newman's advantage to 25-16, their largest of the game to that point. During that stretch, Sam Somerhalder scored three points, Trae Clayton added a basket, Terell Wright finished a layup, and Jayden Schoenn connected from deep. Brandon Wilson added the next Jets points, extending the lead to 30–18 with under five minutes left in the half. A short 4-0 burst, fueled by Jacob Joe's free throws and another jumper from Clayton, pushed the margin to 34-21. Newman closed the half with a 5-0 run featuring a Wright basket and a Wilson three, heading into the break up 39-24.
- Out of halftime, the Jets opened with a 7-0 run led by four points from Clayton and a three-pointer from Joe, stretching the lead to 20 with under 17 minutes to play. A dominant 12-0 run that ended at the ten-minute mark widened the gap to 62-36, with McClure leading the way and additional scores from Freeman, Schoenn, and Wright.
Newman kept stacking small runs throughout the second half. A 5-0 spurt pushed the lead to 71-40 at the 6:30 mark, and back-to-back threes by Freeman and Will Farrington made it 78-45 with four minutes remaining. Abraham Tomori added his first basket of the day with 2:16 left, and Freeman scored his 12th point for the Jets final tally. Newman closed out a dominant 85–55 victory.
