Women's Bowling places fifth at Track Kat Klash

HOUSTON, Texas- The Jets traveled to Houston last weekend for the Track Kat Klash hosted by Sam Houston State. The Jets would get off to a good start on Friday with a win over Southern University. Later, in the final match of the day the Jets would knock off No. 8 ranked and host team Sam Houston 954-890 to go 2-2 on the day. 

Day two would start with two wins over Jackson State and  Prairie View A&M before the Jets would face three ranked opponents. Match three was against GLVC conference foe and pre-season No. 24 Oklahoma Christian. The Jets would take an early lead against the Eagles which they would never relinquish, winning the match 922-894. Match four of the day would be against No. 16 University of Maryland Eastern Shore. This match would go back and forth the entire game with both teams having 60 pin leads during the match. The match came down to the tenth frame where the Jets would make a comeback and with three strikes in the final frame. This would push the Jets to a win by 4 pins at 935-931. The final match of the day would be against No. 7 North Carolina A&T. The Jets would again get off to a fast start and never look back, winning the match 1001-939 to go 5-0 on day two. The Jets were 7-2 headed into Sunday's three matches before bracket play.

Sunday would start with a tough loss to No. 19 Tulane, yet the Jets would rebound with a strong match against Texas Southern winning 974-813. This would set up the final game of round robin match play with the No. 5 ranked team in the country, Wichita State. After three games of the five game match the Jets were down five pins, the Jets would then shoot 220 to WSU's 178 to take a 37-pin lead going to the final game. The Jets would get the win finishing the match 938-923. The Jets were in fifth place in total pins going into the bracket play which would set up another match with Oklahoma Christian. The Jets would get off to a good start winning the first two games of the best of seven matches. The Eagles would come back with a win in game three. However, the Jets took control of the match shooting 220 and 238 in games four and five to win the match 4-1. The Jets would finish in fifth place with a 10-3 record for the weekend. The Jets are 19-6 for the season with two events left in the fall season before the holiday break. 

Freshman Claire Jacobson would finish in second place individually and earn her second All-Tournament Team nod of the season. Jacobson averaged 209 for the event. 

The Jets will be back in action at the McKendree Bearcat Invitational on November 13-16.
