Jets cap off regular season at UCO

EDMOND, Okla.- Women's Soccer wrapped up regular season play at Central Oklahoma. Against the Bronchos, the Jets fell short 2-0. 

How it Happened:
- Central Oklahoma controlled the early play, putting pressure on Newman's defense and testing goalkeeper Carla Apodaca, who came up with key saves around the 12th and 16th minutes. Despite UCO's attacking momentum and several corner and blocked shot opportunities, Newman's back line stayed solid to keep the match even. On the other end, Morgan Todd forced a save from UCO keeper Avery Bass in the 42nd minute, while Maylani Birckbichler saw her shot blocked in the 40th and Keilann Heath's free kick in the 44th just missed high and right. The Jets and Bronchos would stay scoreless in the first half, heading into the break at 0-0. Newman tallied four shots in the half, one on goal. Central Oklahoma tallied 11 shots in the first half, with three on goal. while Apodaca recorded three saves. 
- The Bronchos offense came out strong in the second half, immediately testing the Jets defense and Apodaca, who made a save in the 47th minute to deny UCO a goal. The Bronchos continued to press on and gain scoring opportunities but the Jets defense continued to hold strong. Delphine Dzidzinyo Sosu would find a shot in the 64th minute, but the shot would be blocked. In the 87th minute the Bronchos would find the back of the net with a goal by Jane Lockhart. Lockhart netted the ball after two shots were blocked and saved by the Jets defense, but she would put the third chance in the net. With 12 minutes to play, the Jets trailed 1-0. A few minutes later, the Bronchos netted their second goal by Lauren Piper. This put UCO up 2-0. This goal would put the game away. Newman fell short, 2-0. 

Player/Team Notes:
- Kaylyn Truong tallied three shots, with one on goal. 
- Sosu etched her name in the record book this season, taking the fifth spot for most goals in a season (7).
- This season the Jets posted their best record since 2019, most goals since 2019, least amount of goals allowed since 2021, most shots since 2019, and most assists since  2019 in a season.
