Jets Fall Short Against Tigers

ADA, Okla.- The Jets traveled to Ada to close out 2025 against East Central, but the Tigers came away with a 91–77 victory.

How it Happened:
-Sam Somerhalder got the scoring started for the Jets, finishing a layup after securing an offensive rebound. Thirty seconds later, Thatcher McClure connected from three to give the Jets an early 5–2 lead, then added two more points to push Newman ahead 11–5. The Tigers answered back, tying the game at 17 with a three-pointer and nine minutes left in the half. McClure responded with another three to break the tie, but the teams traded leads throughout the final minutes of the half. A Trae Clayton jumper brought the Jets within one, and Kobe Freeman knocked down a three-pointer to tie the game again with 53 seconds remaining. The Tigers responded with a three of their own and entered the break holding a 38–35 lead.

-Somerhalder found Jayden Schoen behind the three-point arc to open the second half for the Jets, and Deacon Courtney followed by finishing a three-point play to give Newman a 41–40 lead early in the half. East Central responded by pushing the advantage to seven. Somerhalder cut the deficit to one, but the Tigers answered with back-to-back three-pointers to extend the lead once again. Schoen knocked down another three to pull the Jets within four, but East Central pulled away over the final 12 minutes. McClure brought the Jets back within single digits with four minutes remaining, but the Tigers closed out the game, earning a 91–77 win.

Player Notes:
-McClure led the Jets with 19 points, shooting 5-of-8 from three-point range while adding seven rebounds.
-Schoen followed with 14 points, going 4-of-7 from beyond the arc.
-Somerhalder added 13 points and dished out four assists.

The Jets will be back in action on New Year's Day, hosting Rogers State at 7:30 p.m.
