Women's Basketball drops contest to No. 7 Tigers

Jets fall, 77-36 to FHSU

WICHITA- Women's Basketball hosted No. 7 ranked Fort Hays State. This is the Jets and Tigers first match up of the season. Against the Tigers the Jets fell 77-36. 

How it Happened:
- The No. 7 ranked Tigers scored the first 13 points of the game, taking the 13-0 lead at the halfway mark of the opening quarter. Layla Pierce scored the Jets first basket to make it a 13-2 contest. Paige Craft followed Pierce's basket with a three-pointer to put the Jets on a 5-0 run to make it 113-5 with under four minutes to play. The Jets defense only allowed the Tigers to score three points in the final four minutes of the first quarter, but the Jets offense could only add one more point. The Tigers had the lead heading into the quarter break, 16-6. 
- Fort Hays went on a 5-0 run to start the second quarter which took their lead to 21-6. Delainey Wylie then stopped this run with her first basket of the day. Craft then added a three pointer to cut the Tigers lead to just ten points with just over seven minutes to play. The Jets continued to keep within ten points, answering the Tigers scores. However, in the last two minutes of the half, the Tigers went on a 3-0 run to take their lead to 28-15 heading into halftime. 
- The Jets defense held the Tigers off the board until the 8:30 minute mark where they scored their 30th point. Jaeden McMillin scored her first basket at the eight minute mark. Brooklyn Love was the next Jet to score at the 7:21 mark, her first points of the game. Love then scored the next Jets point with a three-pointer to make it 38-22. The Tigers won the third quarter, 28-13 to make the score 56-28 heading into the final quarter. 
- FHSU scored the first six points of the fourth quarter to extend their lead to 62-28. McMillin scored her fourth point to stop the Tigers run. Craft hit her tenth point at the seven minute mark. Heading into the final media timeout, the Jets trailed 66-35. Charlize Williams scored her first point with a free throw at the 2:30 mark. This was the last score for the Jets. The Tigers went on to win 77-36. 

Player Notes:
- Craft led the Jets with ten points, 4-9 from the field, and pulled down four rebounds. 
- Love scored eight points and pulled down four boards. 

The Jets stay home next weekend to face Emporia State on Saturday at 1:30 PM for Senior Day. The Women's game will be televised on 38 The Spot and on the MIAA Network.
