Springfield, Mo.- The Jets traveled to Springfield for the Drury Classic. On the first day of play, the Jets faced Wisconsin Parkside and Minnesota Duluth. Against Parkside, the Jets fell just short at 9-8 through seven innings. Against Minnesota Duluth, the Bulldogs took the match up 12-1.Â
vs Wisconsin Parkside: NU 8, UWP 9
- The Jets kicked off the game on a hot note. The Jets were first up to the plate.
Lani Dryden started off with a single. This was followed by a
Gianna Navarro single that pushed Dryden to second base. Then an error by the Rangers allowed the Jets to load the bases.
Malie Noda singled to right field with the bases loaded to score two runs, giving the Jets the 2-0 lead. Then a single by
Madi Canez scored the Jets third run. Later, another error by the Rangers allowed the Jets fourth and fifth runs to score. Heading into the bottom half of the first inning, the Jets had the 5-0 lead. Parkside responded in the bottom half of the inning with a single followed by a double that made the score 5-1. The Jets were able to add to their lead in the top of the second inning with another error by the Rangers followed by a double by
Reghann Fairbairn that made it 6-1 for the Jets. UWP continued to battle, chipping slowly away at the deficit. In the bottom of the second inning, two doubles helped the Rangers score one more to make it 6-2. In the top of the third inning, Canez walked to start it off. Then a single by
Hannah Nordby pushed Canez to second. A walk earned by
AJ Borja loaded the bases. A walk earned by Dryden with the bases loaded scored the Jets seventh run. Heading into the bottom of the third inning, the Jets had the 7-2 lead. The Jets defense held strong in the bottom of the third. With
Maddie Rae Romo in the circle, she allowed just one hit in the inning.Â
- A single up the middle by Fairbairn kicked off the fourth inning. More errors and walks by the Rangers helped the Jets reach scoring position. Later in the inning, a SAC fly by Nordby scored Fairbairn to take the 8-2 lead. The Jets defense continued to stay sharp, allowing no hits and no runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Finally, in the bottom of the fifth inning UWP was able to put runners on and score two runs with a home run. This made the score 8-4 still in favor of the Jets. Newman was able to escape the inning after allowing just those two runs. However, the Jets bats had cooled off. The next score came from UWP in the bottom of the sixth inning where they scored three to close the deficit to just one at 8-7. The Jets offense couldn't get rolling in the top of the seventh. In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Rangers were able to score two runs that took the lead and the win for Parkside. The Jets would fall in a heart breaker, 9-8.Â

vs Minnesota Duluth
-The Bulldogs got out to a hot start, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning off of three hits. This gave the Bulldogs a 4-0 lead. Dryden was the only Jet able to connect with the ball in the bottom of the first inning, allowing the Bulldogs to keep the 4-0 lead. In the top of the second inning, the Bulldogs continued their hot bats into the inning. UMD was able to score five runs with five hits and one error by the Jets defense. This gave the Bulldogs a 9-0 lead heading into the bottom of the second inning. The Jets were unable to add a run in the bottom half of the inning. In the top of the third inning, Newman's defense stepped up, allowing just one hit with zero runs and turning a double play in the inning. However, the Jets bats could still not get rolling. The Jets were scoreless through the first three innings of play.Â
-In the top of the fourth inning, a home run by the Bulldogs pushed their lead out to 11-0. Later, a double scored another Bulldogs run. Heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, the Bulldogs had the 12-0 lead. The Jets again were held scoreless in the bottom of the fourth. In the top of the fifth, the Jets held UMD to just one hit. Newman had to score four runs in the bottom half of the inning to keep the game from being a run rule. A single by
Alex Schreiner started off the inning. Then an error by UMD allowed
Lauren McNaught to reach first and push Schreiner to second. A single by
Aspen Peterson filled the bases with no outs. With an RBI from Dryden the Jets scored their first run of the game. Though the Jets had runners in scoring position, they could not score anymore runs. Minnesota Duluth took the matchup, 12-1.Â
