Later, an error by Newman helped the Bulldogs score their fourth run before ending the top of the first inning. In the bottom of the first, the Jets were unable to answer to Duluth's runs. Only Reghann Fairbairn was able to get a hit with a single to right field. Kinyon DeCorte substituted Zoe Fulks on the mound for the Jets after the first three at bats of the second inning. An error on the throw by Newman aided the Bulldogs into scoring their fifth run and maintain two runners on base. Three consecutive ground outs retire the side, but before the last out was recorded, Duluth scored another run. In the bottom of the second, Malie Noda was able to get a hit, but it wouldn't lead to anything. Then, the Jets got three quick outs to end the top of the third and got back on offense to try to cut the difference down. Lani Dryden got a hit with a single to right field, but the Bulldogs pitcher did a good job recording three swinging strikeouts. Newman allowed two hits to start the top of the fourth, which led to Lydia Weldon entering the game to pitch for DeCorte. A fielders choice and a double scored two more runs for Duluth. Alex Schreiner recorded a hit in the bottom of the fourth but Newman was unable to score her. The Bulldogs seized their opportunity in the top of the fifth and scored their ninth run off of an error by the Jets defense. In the last half inning of the game, the pinch hitter, Lauren McNaught, had a double to left field. Then, she scored the first and only Jet run aided by Gianna Navarro's and Dryden's ground outs.
