SHAWNEE, Okla.- The Jets traveled to Oklahoma for the GAC/MIAA Crossover Tournament to wrap up non-conference play, opening the event with matches against Southern Nazarene and Oklahoma Baptist. Newman dropped its first contest to Southern Nazarene, 3–0.
Game One vs. Southern Nazarene:
The Jets and Crimson Storm went back and forth through the opening points, battling to a 10–10 tie in set one. Southern Nazarene used a 6-2 run to create a 16-12 lead. Newman answered with a quick 2-0 spurt featuring a kill from
Madalyn Hoot and an ace by
Brooklyn Lane to pull within two at 16-14. The Storm responded with a 5-1 run to reach set point at 24-17 and closed out the frame, 25-18. Newman finished the set with 12 kills on a .250 hitting percentage.
Set two mirrored the first with tight play and multiple ties, including a 10-10 deadlock. Southern Nazarene finally broke the back-and-forth at 17-15, but the Jets clawed back within one after a kill from
Hannah Tymitz. Later in the set, a Storm attacking error allowed Newman to even the score at 21-21, and another error briefly gave the Jets the lead. SNU quickly answered, tying it at 23-23 before finishing the set on a 2-1 run to win 25-23.
Newman fell behind 9–5 early in set three but used a 3-1 run, highlighted by a Tymitz kill and an
Avery Kelley ace, to close within one at 9-8. Southern Nazarene then strung together a decisive 10-4 run to extend the margin to 22-12 and would later seal the set three win at 25-15. The Jets would fall short, 3-0.

Game two vs Oklahoma Baptist:
The Jets and Bison opened the first set evenly, trading points to a 12-12 tie. OBU then went on a 4-0 run to take a 16-12 lead, their largest of the match. Newman responded with two kills from Lamb to close the gap to 17-15, but another 4-0 stretch pushed the Bison ahead 21-15. The Jets answered with a 4-0 run of their own, cutting the deficit to 21-19 and forcing an OBU timeout. Newman stayed within two at 23-21, but the Bison closed the set with a 2-0 run to win 25-21.
Carrying momentum into the second set, OBU stormed out with a 12-3 run to force a Jets timeout. Newman responded with a quick 2-0 burst, but the Bison pulled away again, stretching the score to 17-6. The Jets fought back with a 6-0 run to trim the deficit to 23-16, but the rally came up short as OBU secured the set 25-17.
The Jets battled hard in the third, jumping ahead 9-7 and later extending their lead to 14-10. OBU chipped away to close within one at 17-16, eventually tying the set at 18. The Bison then pulled ahead 20-19 and pushed the margin to 22-19, forcing a Jets timeout. Newman couldn't recover down the stretch, as OBU finished off the set 25-21 and completed the 3-0 sweep.
