JOPLIN, Mo. - The Jets traveled to MSSU to cap off the weekend of MIAA play. The Lions bested the Jets, 72-50.
How it Happened:
- The Lions kicked off the game on a 10-0 offensive surge. The Jets would rally together a 4-0 run with points from
Sam Somerhalder and
Cyrus Shaw. Both teams struggled to get much going offensively, with
Kobe Freeman and
Jacob Joe adding layups around the ten minute mark to keep the Jets within nine. Shaw would add a layup of his own two minutes later to bring the Jets within seven points, but the Lions would score 16 unanswered to get out to a 23 point advantage. Shaw ended the run with a pair of free throws with 40 seconds remaining in the half.
Thatcher McClure added two points to close out the half, with the Lions closing out the half up 33-14.
- The Jets got out to a 6-0 run to start the second half, with McClure capping it off after
Jacob Joe found him for a layup. The Lions continued to respond, opening their lead back up to 20. Freeman added a three to cut into the deficit but the Lions found ways to keep the Jets out of reach.
Terrell Wright added a pair of dunks in the closing moments of the game, but the Lions closed out the win, 72-50.
