Women's Basketball fall short against UCM

WICHITA- Women's Basketball falls short in match-up against UCM, 54-64. 

  

How it Happened: 
– The Jets were led in the first period by Jaeden McMillin, with seven out of the Jets' first nine points. UCM would respond after a time-out and take the lead post time-out, 9-12. McMillin and Alexis Martin would add 3-pointers to take back the lead 15-12. A Carli Carlson three-pointer ended the first quarter, putting the Jets up 20-15.  
– After an Alexis Martin free throw, UCM responded with five quick points. The Jets and the Jennies would go back and forth to reach 25-25. With 14 points in the second quarter, the Jennies would take the lead 29-25. The Jets go into the half led by Jaeden McMillin, who had 12 points and five rebounds. 
– McMillin started the third quarter strong with five points, putting the Jets ahead. A lay-up by Amaya Perez extended the lead to 34-29, leading to a UCM time-out. UCM took back the lead with nine straight points. After the third, the Jennies led 45-44. 
– The Jennies would score first in the fourth to extend their lead to 47-44, which was quickly followed by a Perez layup. Points would go back and forth, leading to a timeout. UCM would go on to score eight straight points to take their lead to 58-48. Two Martin three-pointers were not enough to hold off the Jennies. The Jennies took the match 64-54. 

  
Player Notes:  
- McMillin led the Jets with 24 points and eight rebounds 
- Martin scored 10 points, with three three-pointers, and added 5 rebounds. 
- Carlson added eight points. 


The Jets stay at home to face Washburn on Saturday.
