WICHITA- The Jets hosted top ranked Washburn for a Saturday afternoon matchup. The Jets fell, 107-74.
How it Happened:
- The No. 1 ranked Ichabods got out to an early 11-2 lead. The Jets were able to respond with a 5-0 run to close the gap to 13-9 with baskets from
Kobe Freeman,
Cyrus Shaw, and a free throw from
Thatcher McClure. After this offensive surge by the Jets, the Bods responded with a 7-0 run of their own to push it to a 20-9 lead for Washburn.
Jacob Joe hit a three-pointer to cut this run, making it 20-12. After this score by Joe, Washburn found another offensive surge, taking a 9-0 run to create a 17 point lead for WU. Another three from Joe would cut the Ichabods lead to 29-15 with just under 11 minutes to play in the half. The Ichabods would shortly find another surge, pushing the lead to 36-15. The Jets answered with a 4-0 run, with baskets from
Sam Somerhalder and
Deacon Courtney. For the next two minutes of play, the Jets and Ichabods played even. With five minutes remaining in the half, the Jets trailed 51-25. At the break, the top ranked Ichabods held the 55-33 lead. Joe led the Jets through the first half with eight points, going 2-4 from behind the arc.
- Out of the halftime break, the Ichabods were able to extend their lead to 31 with just under 18 minutes to play. With 15 minutes left to play, Freeman hit his tenth point of the game, making the score 72-44. Halfway through the second half, the Jets trailed 88-49. With 6:30 to play, Freeman hit his 13th point of the night with a three-pointer.
Cyrus Shaw would follow this score with his own, taking his total to 13 points. Another three-pointer by Freeman at the 4:33 mark took the game to 102-64. The Ichabods would close out the game, 107-74.
