EDMOND, Okla.- The Jets hit the road to face the Bronchos of Central Oklahoma. Newman came up short, 67-51
How it Happened:
-Newman opened up the game with Jaeden McMillin having the first score for the Jets. Combined scores by McMillin and Craft gave the Jets a 6-0 lead with six minutes left in the first quarter. H. Harbour from the Bronchos would then cut the Jets run short. Central Oklahoma would then go on a 12-0 run themselves to take the lead. The Bronchos got in front at the end of the first quarter 12-6.
-The Jets opened the second quarter going on an 8-0 run and taking the lead making it a two point game. Newman gained momentum with Carlson making back to back three-pointers. The Jets run would then force a Central Oklahoma timeout. The Jets led 16-14 with 5:21 left in the second. The Bronchos were quick to respond with a basket of their own. Newman and Central Oklahoma would then trade baskets with several lead changes throughout the last five minutes of the second quarter. Late scores in the quarter would help the Bronchos stay in front at the half with a score of 23-20. McMillin leads the Jets with ten points and seven rebounds at the half.
-After the half, the Bronchos started with an 8-0 run, forcing the Jets to take a timeout. Following the timeout, McMillin kicked it off for the Jets, breaking up the Bronchos run. The Bronchos would lead the game 34-25 going into a media break at the five minute mark in the third quarter. A three-pointer by Craft with two minutes left in the quarter gave the Jets some energy. Points late in the quarter and a block by Perez were not enough to take the lead from the Bronchos. Ending the quarter the Bronchos would stay ahead 45-34.
-McMillin would open the fourth quarter for the Jets with a layup recording her twentieth point of the night. B. Fouquet from the Bronchos would score a quick five points. The Jets would then answer going on an 8-0 run cutting the lead to six for Central Oklahoma making the score 50-44
A made three-pointer by Carlson would force a Central Oklahoma timeout. Following the timeout, the Bronchos would come out strong, scoring seven in a row stretching the lead to 57-44 with 4:35 left in the game. Newman would then take a timeout of their own. Points by Williams were not enough to catch Central Oklahoma's strong offense in the last minutes of the game. The Bronchos would take the game 67-51.
