Jets drop matchup to Central Oklahoma, 73-55

Carlson scores career high

WICHITA- Women's Basketball hosted Central Oklahoma to cap off the weekend of play. The Jets would drop the contest to the Bronchos, 73-55.

How it Happened:
Valeriya Lioukina kicked off the game converting an and-one opportunity to give the Jets the early 3-0 lead. Central Oklahoma would respond with a 8-0 run to take the 8-3 lead at the six minute mark of the first quarter. Charlize Williams would cut this Bronchos run with her first points of the day, making it 8-5. The Bronchos would later take the 10-5 lead, forcing Newman to take the first timeout of the game with four minutes remaining. Out of the timeout, UCO would piece together a 4-0 run to make it a double-digit lead for the Bronchos. Paige Craft ended this run with her basket of the game. The Jets and Bronchos would trade on and off baskets to end the quarter. At the end of one, Central Oklahoma led 19-9. 
- The Jets started off the second quarter with a three-pointer by Dani Williams. UCO was quick to respond with a basket of their own to keep a nine point lead. Monica Redondo connected from behind the arc at the seven minute mark to cut the deficit to just six points. Later, Carli Carlson hit a three-pointer to make the deficit five with under six to play. At the media timeout of the second quarter, the Jets trailed 25-18. Carlson would later hit another three-pointer to cut the deficit to four with under four to play. UCO scored four in a row to extend their lead, but Alexis Martin sank two free throws to end the half. At the break, the Jets trailed, 29-23. Carlson led the Jets offense with six points in the half. 
- The Jets opened up the second half with a basket by Lioukina, closing the score to 29-25. UCO would strike a three-pointer on the following possession to hold the lead at 32-25. This three-pointer started a 4-0 run from UCO but Redondo answered with a three-pointer to keep the Jets within eight. Later, a 7-0 run would take the Jets into the second media break of the half, trailing 43-28. The Jets would finally be able to stop this surge by UCO with a three-pointer from C. Williams. The Bronchos would follow up this basket with a three-pointer from Bobbie Fouquet, her 14th point of the game, to take a 15 point lead with four minutes to play. The Jets could not find an answer on the offensive end, allowing UCO to extend to a 19 points lead with two minutes remaining in the third. Delainey Wylie would connect from behind the arc to try to spark the Jets offense, but UCO would continue to answer. Craft scored the last bucket of the half to make the score 56-38, Bronchos. 
- Fouquet of the Bronchos hit her 20th point of the contest to take the twenty point lead for UCO. Carlson would later hit back-to-back three-pointers for the Jets to cut the deficit to 14 points with seven minutes remaining. The Jets defense could not string enough stops together to comeback in the closing minutes of the game. Newman would fall to UCO, 73-55.

Player Notes: 
- Carlson scored her career high 14 points going 5-11 from the field, 4-9 from behind the arc. Carlson also pulled down seven rebounds. 
- Martin scored 11 points. 
- Craft added eight points. 
- Wylie led the Jets with nine rebounds. 

The Jets hit the road next week to face Missouri Southern and Pittsburg State.
