2025 MIAA Women’s Soccer Academic Awards

KANSAS CITY, Mo.- The MIAA released its MIAA Academic Awards for Women's Soccer Wednesday morning. Five Jets earned academic excellence, two Jets earned Scholar-Athlete status, and 21 Jets earned a spot on the Academic Honor Roll. 

The prestigious MIAA Academic Excellence Award was achieved by 27 Women's Soccer athletes. An MIAA Academic Excellence Award recipient must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of at least 4.00 at the certifying member institution. The honoree also must have at least two terms of grades reported at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. The Jets who received this honor are listed below.

The Scholar-Athlete distinction went to 35  student-athletes. A Scholar-Athlete is an individual that has a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 or better at the certifying member institution. They must have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. The student-athlete must also earn All-MIAA honors for the current season. Delphine Dzidzinyo Sosu and Lexi Bauer earned Scholar-Athlete status. Sosu added seven goals on the year, climbing into the fifth spot all-time in Newman Women's Soccer history for most goals scored in one season. Sosu also added two assists on the year, bringing her points total to 16. Sosu ended the season fifth in the MIAA in total shots (54), fourth in goals (7), fourth in shots on goal (29), and seventh in points (16). The senior finished with 1199 minutes played. This season, Sosu earned MIAA Player of the Week in week one of play after scoring a brace against William Jewell and scoring one goal against SBU. Sosu earns her first All-MIAA Third Team nod, after earning a spot on the Honorable Mention team last season. Bauer totaled 1346 minutes of play this season on the Jets defense. Bauer totaled the second highest minutes played on the Jets team, following just behind goalkeeper Carla Apodaca. Bauer added one assist on the year and one goal for a total of three points. Bauer's goal came against Missouri Southern State. This goal by Bauer helped lead the Jets to a dominant 3-0 win over the Lions.

In the Academic Honor Roll category, 212  individuals were mentioned, 21 Jets earned a spot on the honor roll. To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 or above at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. The athletes who earned this honor are listed below.
