PITTSBURG, Kan.- Men's Basketball traveled to Pittsburg to face PSU for their first road conference game of the season. The Jets would fall to the Gorillas, 86-73.
How it Happened:
- Jordan Glenn-Hawkins scored five of the Jets' eight points to begin the game. At the 16-minute mark, Newman trailed 9-8. A 5-0 run pushed PSU's lead to 14-8, but Jayden Schoen cut this surge with a three-pointer to make it a three-point deficit. The Gorillas would then hit a three-pointer of their own to take a six-point lead. Later, a Cyrus Shaw three would bring Newman within five points at the 12-minute mark. The Gorillas found a 13-0 run to extend their lead out to 35-17, forcing the Jets into a timeout around the 7:30 mark. The Gorillas continued their offensive surge after the timeout, hitting a three-pointer to make it 38-17. A free throw from Shaw would finally end this surge by PSU. This free throw by Shaw would spark a 6-0 run by the Jets, with Sam Somerhalder and Thatcher McClure both scoring. PSU would find another scoring run, taking a 13-2 run to a 51-25 lead. Somerhalder would score the last basket of the half, making the score at the break 51-27 in favor of the Gorillas. Somerhalder and McClure led the Jets' offense in the first half with eight points apiece.
- Shaw would score the first two baskets of the second half for the Jets. His baskets were then followed by an 8-0 run by the Gorillas to take the 62-31 lead. The Jets would respond with their own 8-0 run, with Glenn-Hawkins scoring five points during the run. At the halfway mark of the second half, the Jets trailed 70-47. A short 5-0 spurt by the Gorillas would push their lead to thirty at the seven-minute mark. Newman would then put together a 16-3 run to close the gap to 84-66 with just over two minutes to play. During this strong offensive surge by the Jets, Brandon Wilson scored nine points, with Aime Rutayisire scoring five. The Jets would then close out the game on a 7-0 tear but would run out of time to complete the comeback. The Gorillas took the contest, 86-73.

- Wilson scored 14 points, 4-6 from three and 4-8 from the field.
