INDIANAPOLIS – After helping lead Newman women's bowling to a tournament championship, sophomore Claire Jacobson has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference/Athletic Solutions Women's Bowling Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.

Jacobson, a sophomore from New Prague, Minnesota, played a pivotal role in Newman's first-place finish at the Warhawk Classic, held Oct. 23-25. The Jets topped a 10-team field and captured the tournament championship behind another standout performance from one of the nation's premier bowlers.

Over 132 total frames during the event, Jacobson averaged 20.05 pins per frame while posting an 86.4% fill percentage. She also recorded a 56.1% strike percentage, converted 88.9% of her single-pin spare opportunities and finished with an 81.6% makeable spare percentage.

In traditional play, Jacobson averaged 192.4 across five games, providing consistent scoring throughout the tournament. She was equally effective during Baker competition, averaging 20.55 pins per frame over 82 frames as the Jets advanced through the field on their way to the title.

The award marks the third Athlete of the Week honor of Jacobson's career and her second during the 2026 calendar year. She previously earned the recognition on Feb. 19, 2026, and Oct. 16, 2025.

Jacobson's performance at the Warhawk Classic helped continue a strong season for the Jets and further solidified her status as one of the conference's top competitors.
