TURNERSVILLE, N.J.- Women's Bowling traveled to New Jersey to compete in the Wildcat Invitational, hosted by Wilmington University at Bowlero Turnersville.
The Jets set the tone early and never gave up the lead. After every match of the tournament, Newman remained in 1st place based on total pinfall.
Friday featured five traditional team game matches. The Jets opened with a 1046-890 win over Holy Family and a 1060–809 victory over Daemen. After narrow losses to Felician 923–933 and Emmanuel 949–975, Newman closed the day with a 961–953 win over Dominican. The Jets finished the day 3-2 and in 1st place overall by total pinfall.
Saturday's format shifted to Baker total pinfall. Newman continued with a 1081–867 win over Dominican and an 898–795 victory over host Wilmington. Following a bye in match three, the Jets defeated Kutztown 1010–908 and Adelphi 1009–856 to complete a 4-0 day. After qualifying, the Jets remained in 1st place overall heading into bracket play.
Sunday featured best-of-seven Baker matches. As the No. 1 seed, Newman faced Emmanuel in the semifinal and earned a 4-2 victory. In the championship match against Kutztown, the Jets delivered a dominant performance, sweeping the match 4-0 to secure the tournament title.
Newman finished the weekend with a 9-2 match record and improved its season record to 56-28.
Claire Jacobson earned All-Tournament Team honors and was named Tournament MVP after averaging 229 over five traditional games.
The Jets return to action March 6–8 at the Music City Classic, hosted by Vanderbilt University.
