Softball drops final games of Midwest Collegiate Classic

KANSAS CITY, Mo.- The Jets faced Truman State and Upper Iowa to close out the Midwest Collegiate Classic on Saturday. The Jets fell to Truman State, 8-4. 

Game one vs Truman State: NU 4, TSU 8 
- Truman State opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with one run scored. The Jets were able to tie up the game in the bottom of the third.  A walk earned by Lauren McNaught gave the Jets their first base runner of the inning. Hannah Nordby pushed McNaught over to third with a single to center. Emma Taylor would hit a line drive to center, scoring McNaught to tie the game at 1-1. The next score would come from the Jets in the top of the fifth inning. Dryden singled to start off the inning, followed by a single from McNaught. Malie Noda would later single in the inning, scoring both Dryden and McNaught to take the 3-1 lead. An error on the Bulldogs catcher would later allow Noda to cross the plate. Heading into the bottom of the fifth, the Jets led 4-1. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Truman retook the lead at 6-4. 
- The Bulldogs were able to put two more runs across in the bottom of the sixth to extend their lead out to four runs at 8-4. The Jets were unable to rally the bats in the top of the seventh, resulting in an 8-4 loss to Truman State. 

Player Notes:
- Noda tallied two RBIs to lead the Jets offense.  
- Taylor was credited with one RBI. 

Game Two vs Upper Iowa: NU 0, UIU 7 
- The Jets and Peacocks would go through four three innings scoreless. Through three, the Peacocks tallied just three hits while the Jets tallied one hit. UIU opened the scoring in the top of the fourth inning. The Peacocks scored seven in the inning to take the 7-0 lead. The Jets were able to hold off UIU for the remainder of the game, but the Jets offense could not crack into the deficit. UIU would take the win, 7-0. 

Player Notes:
- Borja tallied the Jets single hit of the contest. 

Newman returns to action on Wednesday where they will host Tabor for a doubleheader beginning at 2PM.
