WICHITA-The Jets hosted Tabor College for a midweek doubleheader on March 4th. The Bluejays would take game one, 14-6 and game two, 4-1.
Game one vs Tabor College: NU 6, TC 14
-After Tabor broke a scoreless tie with a solo home run in the second, the Bluejays broke the game open with 12 runs in the third inning and 10 hits, including multiple RBI singles and two home runs to extend their lead to 13-0. Newman responded in the fourth when
Laci Dryden ripped a two-run double to center to score
Hannah Nordby and
Travia Smith.
Kaila Kaahu followed with an RBI single to score Dryden and cut the deficit to 13–3. The Bluejays would add a run in the top of the fifth to make the score, 14-3. The Jets continued their push in the fifth.
Malie Noda singled and
AJ Borja doubled to put runners in scoring position. Nordby brought in a run on a fielder's choice, and RBI groundouts from
Kinley Powell and Kaahu added two more runs. Tabor College would take the first game through five innings, 14-6.
Game two: NU 1, TC 4
-The pitchers controlled the game through the first four innings for both teams. The Bluejays broke the scoreless tie in the fifth inning with an RBI single to right field, scoring Rachaely Yay to give Tabor a 1-0 lead. Tabor added to its advantage in the seventh inning with an RBI single to second base, pushing the lead to 2-0. Later in the inning, the Bluejays extended their lead to 4-0. Newman responded with their first run in the bottom of the seventh when
Hannah Nordby drove in
Lani Dryden on a fielder's choice. The Bluejays would take the game 4-1.
