Jets fall to Lions in Fugate

WICHITA- The Jets hosted Missouri Southern for a Thursday night MIAA matchup. The Jets would fall 72-51. 
How it Happened:
- The Lions outscored the Jets 21-8 in the first quarter. Through the first ten minutes of play, Paige Craft scored five of the Jets eight points. Newman shot just 3-15 from the floor in the opening quarter, allowing MSSU to tally 50% from the field. 
- MSSU scored the first basket of the second quarter. Carli Carlson responded with her first points of the day, connecting from behind the arc to make it a 23-11 game. Alexis Martin scored the next Jets points at the seven minute mark, hitting a three to make the score 27-14. The Jets and Lions would keep pace through the remainder of the second quarter, with MSSU winning the quarter 15-13. At halftime, the Jets trailed 36-21. Craft led the offense with seven points, while Martin added six. 
- MSSU kicked off the third on a 4-0 run. Charlize Williams and Alexis Martin would both hit three-pointers on back-to-back possessions for the Jets, taking the score to 41-26. In the third quarter, Martin led the Jets with five points taking her total to 11 points on the night. Through three quarters of play, the Jets trailed 55-30. 
-  Martin scored the Jets first basket of the fourth quarter. Monica Redondo would later score her first points of the night, hitting a three-pointer to make the game 57-36. Redondo added another three with under seven to go for her sixth point of the game. Dani Williams added her first points to the game with a step back at the six minute mark. Perez would also add her sixth of the game in the fourth with just over three to play. Carlson hit her second three-pointer with 2:30 to play to make the score 68-46. The Jets would be unable to close the gap in the remaining time. Newman would drop the contest, 72-51. 

Player Notes: 
- Martin led the Jets offense with 17 points, going 6-13 from the field. 
- Craft added seven. 

The Jets are back in action on Saturday to host Pittsburg State at 1:30 PM.
