WICHITA- Baseball capped off the weekend with a Sunday afternoon match up, game four of the series against MSU Denver. The Jets fell, 9-2.
How it Happened:
- In the top of the first inning, the Roadrunners were able to push one run across the plate to take the early 1-0 lead. The next scores would come in the top of the third for the Roadrunners, pushing their lead to 3-0. The Jets were unable to respond in the bottom half of the inning. Through three, the Jets trailed 3-0 with MSU Denver tallying six hits to the Jets two.
- In the top of the fourth and fifth innings, MSU Denver was able to add three runs that extended the lead to 6-0. Three more runs for the Roadrunners came in the sixth inning. The Jets remained with three hits through six innings, making the score 9-0 at the end of six.
- The Jets bats were hot in the bottom of the eighth inning, hitting three straight singles to load up the bases with one out with singles by
Kaynan Kaku,
Justin Birch, and
Nicolas Ely.
Brett Kocher would then step up to the plate and rope a double that scored Kaku and Birch. After eight innings, Newman trailed 9-2. The Jets were unable to close the gap in the bottom of the ninth. The Jets fell in game four, 9-2.
Player Notes:
- Kocher added two RBIs.
- Kaku and Birch both went 2-4 from the plate.
The Jets are back at McCarthy Field next weekend as they host Upper Iowa for a four game series starting on Friday, February 13th at 2 PM.
