WICHITA-The Jets hosted Emporia State University for a weekend doubleheader on Saturday, March 21st. The Hornets would take game one, 7-1 and game two, 14-1.
Game one vs Emporia State University: NU 1, ESU 7Â
-Newman struck first in the opening inning when
AJ Borja doubled to right field, driving in
Lani Dryden for an early 1-0 lead. Emporia State quickly answered in the second to tie the game at 1-1. In the third inning, ESU picked up an RBI to give the Hornets  a 2-1 lead. Emporia State added to their advantage in the fifth when Flewelling launched a solo home run to center field, extending their lead to 3-1. The game broke open in the sixth inning, when Emporia State scored four runs to finish with seven on the day. Emporia State would take game one, 7-1.Â
Game two: NU 1, ESU 14
-The Hornets set the tone in the first inning with six runs to take an early lead. After a scoreless second inning Emporia State kept the pressure on in the third inning plating six more runs. This pushed their lead to 12-0. Newman would get on the board in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single from
Hannah Nordby, scoring
Laci Dryden. The Hornets added two more runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by RBI doubles from Ramos and De Luna to bring the score to 14-1. Emporia State would continue to hold the Jets and take game two through five innings, 14-1.
